Papua culture


Papua is the largest andsternmost province of Indonesia. It comprises most of the western half of the island of New Guinea and nearby islands. Its capital is Jayapura.
The province originally covered the entire western hal of New Guinea. In 2003, the Indonesian government declared the westernmost part of the island, around Bird's Head Peninsula, a separate province; its name was first West Irian Jaya and now West Papua.
are some of the most well-known ethnic groups of Papua:        
Amungme, Asmat, Bauzi, Dani, Kamoro, Kombai, Korowai, Mee, Sentani, Yali, Yei.                   The population of Papua province has been growing fast (2.9 children per woman fertility rate), from 1.9 million in the 2000 Indonesia Census to 2.9 million in the 2011 Census  78% of the Papuans identified themselves as Christian with 54% being Protestant and 24% being Roman Catholic. 21% of the population was Muslim and less than 1% were Buddhist or Hindu. There is also substantial practice of animism by Papuans.
When I seached between my dad’s old stuffs in the store…
 i found them…. the antique Papua Tribal (Asmat) Wood Craft laying there from more than 50 years ago.There’re more than 500 pcs, with height of each around 30-45 cms. 100 pcs in good condition and the rest are with a little crack or broken at some parts.


Day 1                                                                                                              9.00-12.00 :                                                                                                                        When I arrived in Jayapura I will find the inn for several days. After that I will go to seetraditional resident in Papua. and see thethe beauty of island of Papua . and at 12.00 Iwill come back to the inn to rest.
Day 2
The second day I will go and see a traditional society papua again to try the foodtypical of Papua. After that I will follow the habits of everyday society papua. I will alsolook at Crafts from the community and see a list of values ​​papua papua population at this time. After that I will go back to the inn to rest.
Day 3                                                                                                                                                            Day 3 is very short because I certainly will be ready to go home. So before I go I wouldwant to say goodbye to the people of Papua and I will write my journey in Papua in my blog. I will miss Papua
